Are you having a bad day?
ARE YOU HAVING A BAD DAY?
Are you having a bad day? Let’s put in perspective…
Imagine being 17 again.
Imagine being a 17 year old girl.
Imagine being a 17 year old girl who is guilty of an indiscretion.
Imagine being a 17 year old girl who is guilty of an indiscretion committed in a moment of passion that resulted in an unplanned pregnancy.
All of that is tough enough; the embarrassment, the self-recrimination, the difficult decisions that are suddenly facing you.
Now…imagine waking up to discover that your indiscretion is the leading story of every major news outlet in the entire world.
That has GOT to suck.

wow thank you for that, haha
’tis true, ’tis true. I read the papers from overseas, rather than the local ones, and there it is… poor girl.
I was thinking last night if the republicans lose the election, at some point, this girl is going to think I wonder if they lost because of me. She will then have to think that her pregnancy actually changed history. I mean I like to think my kids are special, but geesh.
You’re right. It would be hard enough to be 17 and pregnant, but to have it discussed all over the world has to be devestating. Someone called into our local early news ’talk back segment’ tonight, and flat out said that because of her mom’s outspoken views on abstinence and against abortion, her pregnancy is fair game. aargh! That kind of attitude makes me so mad! I wish they would leave the poor girl alone, and stop talking about it!
my day isn’t this bad….I sure would not like to be this young lady.
Oh, man, no kidding. I really feel bad for this poor girl. She didn’t ask to be thrown into this spotlight.
Somehow, I think this poor girl is gonna do just fine. I think she is gonna grow and overcome this big trial. She will humble herself or be humbled but with humility comes blessing and it is never wasted. I think I can speak to this in some manner as I have been there, done that!!! I sing His praises everyday for the humility and the ultimate blessing. I send my hugs and encouragement to her. None of us is perfect…. and the thing the Creator condemned the most was the hypocrisy, not the sinner. I think it being handled openly and honestly is fantastic and worthy of commendation. So there you go… that is my 2cents worth!
I know I feel really bad for her! I hope it blows over soon.
I have to wonder at her mother’s actions. She must be really angry at her daughter to punish her like this. She knew the media would be all over it. If she didn’t then she’s an idiot. If she did then she has to be the meanest, most self-centered mother in history! Either way Gov. Palin looks bad. As it is, the poor girl suffers, the boyfriend suffers, in fact the whole family might need to go into therapy. So sad.
yeah, that would suck.
That sucks almost as much as being forced to marry the 18 year old schmuck who knocked you up.
I see her as just like so many other young girls who come from really good families. It doesn’t make her bad.
I wonder if there’s any chance that she actually wanted to have a baby…
This was my first thought also. The whole globe now knows that this kid got pregnant the daughter of the maybe next vice president? Wow, dump the facebook, man!
Thanks for the perspective, Mark, I needed it.
One of the worst things is that the poor thing probably has to marry the schmuck now because mama says she is going to marry him…and gee…just how would that look. It’s too bad for the girl and somehow I would like to seeher become invisible but with mom’s stand on ethics and morals and the conservative family way…it’s probably just going to get worse.
Fine line: Slow news day or Election coverage
I think it’s odd her mother accepted the nomination knowing that there is no way THAT fat wouldn’t get thrown on the fire.
Hey, I’m curious how you first-servicers are going to do that rocking song that Mike wants done in both services for the next 3 weeks. It doesn’t seem to lend itself to organ, but have you found a way???
PS. Does the “reply” feature on Xanga ease your guilt about reaching out to your commenters?
Well said. They need to leave that poor girl alone! ~ L
Too soon to say, “I’d hit it?”
Window seat on the bus to hell, please.
ROFL@ Boo…..
Thanks for putting my terrifically crappy day in perspective.
LOL that is almost as bad as having the jellyfish stuck in the crack of your arse story….but yea, this is probably worse :/
That’s what I was thinking…. There’s nothing like having your deeds out there for the world to see.
Do you know that your latest blog page has been temproarily removed. The one with the subliminal message.
Subliminal my butt!! LOL I loved it and now it’s gone. Evidently censorship is still alive and well here even though Wasilla residents fought it in Alaska:)
As a mother, I feel I’d have put my political career on hold for at least a year until my teenaged daughter was settled. I wonder how the Religious Right will deal with it when this young forced marriage fails, if it follows the norm? They’ll have to spin “for better or worse”.
Yes, that would definitely suck. Since Sarah Palin knew about the pregnancy when she accepted the nomination, though, she did so, knowing that it would thrust her daughter into the spotlight. I’m NOT saying she shouldn’t be a candidate because she has a family!!! I’m just saying, she IS the girl’s mother, and made the her candidacy decision knowing that her daughter’s and boyfriend’s indiscretion would be exposed to all.
