  • THE CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE IN SIX HOURS ON AN EXPENSE ACCOUNT

I have to be in Washington D.C. for business this week. Our CEO heard that I was headed out east and called to ask if I wouldn’t mind just “stopping by” Philadelphia for a quick meeting on my way there. Kind of like; “would you mind stopping by the grocery store for some milk on your way to the dry cleaners?”

Being a person who isn’t bullied easily simply because of a person’s power and position in the company I replied, “Yes mam, I’d be more than happy to do that.”

So…I’m flying into Philadelphia on Sunday and the only flight that is available on short notice leaves at the butt crack of dawn and gets me into Philly about noon.

My meeting isn’t until Monday morning which leaves me with half a day to kill in the City of Brotherly Love. I haven’t been to Philly in a very long time, so I need your help. Those of you, who are familiar with the city, please tell me what a tourist absolutely needs to go see with only half a day to see it in.

Also, please let me know what the single most expensive restaurant in the city is. If I’m going to “stop by” Philadelphia on short notice on the company’s expense account, I’m thinking I should treat about 20 homeless people to an nice steak dinner.

  • If you really want to blow out the expense account, have a meal at Le Bec-Fin.  It is a wonderful French restaurant.  And it will definitely put a hurt on the expense account.  Regarding your half-day of touristing, I’ll think on that and stop back later today with a couple of suggestions.

  • Attention: All bloggers everywhere….if you can make your way to Philly by Sunday Mark is going to buy us all dinner.     WOOOOOO HOOOOOO.

  • There’s an excellent Andrew Wyeth exhibit at the Philadephia Museum of Art.

  • there’s the new constitution hall, which i’d love to go see myself.  the franklin institute if you like science stuff.  and south street, just for the experience.  not going to south street is like going to manhattan and not going to times square.

  • Did I mention that I’m homeless? I’m sure your CEO would love for you have some company on your way to the local “grocery store” out there in Philly.

I’ll ask my philly friends. Give me a ring.

  • Gotta have a Philly steak and cheese! With lots of onions!

  • The dinner for the homeless sounds like a good idea.  I have a feeling you’ll have no problem entertaining yourself.  Have a good trip.

  • wow.  i don’t know phillie, but good luck.

  • I like the Philly Cheese Steak with lots of onions idea… Have one about 1/2 hour before your meeting with the CEO…

  • I hear they have some sort of broken bell on display there.

  • I am not sure what’s expensive there, but great idea for the homeless!

  • Take good notes of  your travels so you can tell us the good places when you return.

Thanks for the visit today, we really enjoyed it.  I hope we can all do it again soon.  Have a fun week!!!

  • Playing catch up.  I’ve been to Harrisburg and Elizabethtown and flew back to Minnesota from Pittsburgh so am absolutely no help but I love the thought of the expense account buying some nice steaks.  I think the Tim Currie one is the best and you can wax nostalgic over the fact that you would look better as Rocky now than he would.  LOL  I loved the ending comment.  Last time I tried that site, I wasn’t too amused either.  Me?  I chat about mini skirts and go-go dancing when remembering the teen years.  I love to tease the kiddeos about the fact that microwaves came out while I ws in high school.  The shock on their faces.  Hope you have a nice trip.  “butt crack of dawn”  Old dirty joke for you so can ignore if so desire.

Did you know Tony Orlando was missing?  They found him at the crack of dawn.  We have to be old to get that one.  LOL

  • My family and I will meet you for dinner that day!!! (since your company is picking up the tab!)

  • There’s a Rodin sculpture museum, and Chef Morimoto from Iron Chef fame has a restaurant in Philly.
