  • “KID RAUNCH”

(Warning: This entry is about sex)

A company called “Red Light District” announced that it has possession of a video tape of Kid Rock and former “Creed” front man Scott Stapp having explicit sexual relations with four female groupies on a tour bus in 1999. The company plans to release the 45 minute video later this year.

    This story begs several questions:

    1.         Who would pay good money to watch this

        have sex?

Because, ironically, the answer to question #1 is “millions of people”, the next question is

    2.         What will those people be doing while they watch this

      have sex?

    3.         Does the obvious answer to question #2 creep you out as much as it creeps me out?

    4.         What would possess four young women to share themselves on video with this?

    5.         Have you ever video taped yourself having sex?

    6.         Can I have a copy?

Just kidding with that last question, but I find it fascinating that people (celebrities and non-celebrities alike) allow themselves to be taped or tape themselves while having sex.

The thought of seeing my own hairy ass on a big screen is NOT an aphrodisiac.

What I find really intriguing is that there seems to be a huge disparity regarding what Americans find to be acceptable standards of sexual behavior among celebrities and say…politicians.

Will this sex tape hurt Kid Rock’s career? Did sex tapes hurt the careers of Pamela Anderson, Tommy Lee, Collin Farrell, or Paris Hilton? Hardly, and yet this single photo ended the political career of Senator Gary Hart.

I’d like to know what you think. Is this double standard OK? Should politicians be held to different standards? Do you think sexual behavior is the ultimate litmus test for integrity in general? Can an individual be a good politician and behave badly in his sex life? When it comes to oval office nookie, why is Kennedy an American icon and Clinton a political pariah? Inquiring minds want to know.

  • I think we kind of expect things like that from rock stars, it goes all the way back to Jerry Lee Lewis and the good ole boys. Rock stars live the wild life for us, the lives we all wish we could have (but get off the ride and return to sanity after a bit). We want our politicians to be squeeky clean and uphold the morals our society dictates. Is it a double standard? Yes. Is it okay? Absolutely. That’s what rock stars are for, and that’s what politicians are for. If they don’t agree then someone needs to type up a revised resume and get a new job, those are the lives and public expectations they signed up for.

  • Thought provoking….It’s a hard question to answer.  On one hand, I think that the rock stars should be held to a higher standard, but on the other hand, it’s what America expects from them.  It’s really sad.
    PlainOleMike said it well.

  • I can hardly type because I am shuddering at the thought of a tape featuring Kid Rock……..Bleh!

I agree with PlainOleMike. It’s almost as if we expect bad behavior from celebrities, and alot of them seem more than willing to give it to us. Politicians are held to a higher standard because they are supposed to represent us and uphold piblic morality. I think there is the difference in perception between Clinton and Kennedy because Kennedy came from an era before we started tearing down  people in the spotlight. It wasn’t until later that Kennedy’s sexploits became public knowledge and by then he was already a mythic figure in American history.

  • Oh, and I love your new header too!

  • well, kennedy supposedly had marilyn monroe while clinton had monica and paula.  i think that puts kennedy in icon status.  so does getting killed in office with his beloved (by americans if not by jfk) wife trying to save him.

frankly, i don’t give a flying fig what the president or any politician does in his sex life or where he goes to church (if he does at all) or if he gets rip-roaring drunk on poker night.  i do care if he engages in illegal or suspect behavior (like shooting a guy while quail hunting).  morality is often subjective.  it isn’t fair to ask anyone else to live within our belief system, except our kids who we are bound to force into mind control.  but the legal system is a whole different ball game.  when blow jobs in the oval office are illegal, then we should be aware of clinton’s behavior.  until then, let’s all admit what guys everywhere were thinking: i wish somebody would give me a blow job.

  • No it will probably help his career…he’s been in need of some publicity….Cameo shots on Gretchen Wilsons Videos are just not enough.
I know this will make me unpopular by saying this….but I think Kid Rock is sexy…in a bad boy way.  I’ll go one further….I’d watch the video just to see what he looked like.  What would I be doing while I watched the video???  The first time around I’d probably squinting to get a closer look.  hahaha

  • I don’t want to have sex with that. He’s so skanky. Gross.

  • OMG…I don’t know why people would be so stupid to tape themselves doing anything that they would be uncomfortable with having Mom and Dad watch!…That is my litmus test! ….that is what I tell my kids and I hold them to it.

As for double standards, I don’t think so, I hold all of the pople you listed in very low esteem….I don’t know why you think that Kennedy is “held in high esteem”, he isn’t in my household, neither is Clinton or Bush (1 or 2), frankly, the last president I had respect for was Carter, although I will admit to liking Reagan, but honestly, who couldn’t like Reagon, he was just a nice man, even if we didn’t like the fact that Nancy seemed to run everything! LOL

I do not think that politicians that have therir sexual lives run amock can do good in office, I think that they would have to spend a great deal of time “hiding” their sexual lives and then what would be accomplished?

  • I confess, I was one of the groupie who “did” Kid Rock. That’s was one of my prouder moments in life, I’m sad to say.

  • Politicians are not people. They are cyborg replicas of people. After spending time around people they attempt to act like people. Here in lies the problem. People suck. The cyborgs begin to emulate the behavior they see (thanks alot cable tv) and then they start in with the sex, and the crack smoking, and all of the other nefarious activities that are featured on saturday morning cartoons. That is why Dick Cheney shot that lawyer, he wanted to see his beak spin around. If we could just go back to the days of the Roman empire, when all of the politicians were sleeping with each other, and no one had ever heard of a camera. Sigh.

  • I wouldn’t want a tape of myself either.  If I were an actress and  needed to laugh uproariously, I’d imagine Queen Elizabeth with her ankles up at Prince Phillip’s ears and that would do the trick. Kid Rock wouldn’t help in anyway.

  • Don’t do anything in private you don’t want made known in public. Anyone who tapes, photographs, or journals indiscretions always runs the risk of those things being made public.

  • I think it’s reasonable for society to hold politicians to a higher standard than we do celebrities. I think a person is capable of being an excellent leader and yet behave in a way that people consider to be immoral with regard to sex–FDR had a mistress–but a public *leader* shows a serious lack of judgement when he allows himself to be photographed with his lover. Maybe people think this lack of judgement means a bad leader.

  • I agree with Daylily.  Entertainers, while not private figures, are at least not elected to represent the rest of us.  Also, good judgment isn’t a job requirement for entertainers.

Of course, it’s obviously not a requirement for politicians either, but we like to think it should be.

    Whatever happened to Donna Rice?

  • Watching a video of myself “in action” would be like being in a mirrored bedroom. *shudders and runs away screaming*

  • Frankly, I can’t imagine why anyone would film themselves having sex unless its how they make a living.  And I certainly wouldn’t pay to see Kid Rock do it with anyone.  He’s pretty skanky, if you ask me.

As for the Kennedy/Clinton question–I’ve often wondered how that mindset came about myself. . .

  • When I first saw the headlines, I thought it was Scott Stapp that Kid Rock was having sex with.  I was majorly bummed to find out it wasn’t so.

Why do we expect higher standards from politicians ?  Because we’re small, vile creatures with a need to feel superior to others.  Where do we have to look to find this satisfaction ?  Politics.  That should tell us something.  Seriously.

  • Yikes. I’m don’t think my sex tape would sell even if it was on 70% discount! LOL

  • Ellen Degeneres does a bit in one of her acts about people taping themselves and why. She comes up with two scenarios; one they think they are so hot and two…game day type commentary & criticism. That is hysterical, the idea that you might replay something to point out “bad plays”….But who in their right mind would video tape themselves?! What if your children, or your parents, or co-workers saw it? Yuck.

As for the politicans, I really don’t think the what kind of sex, how much sex, and with whom they have sex is any of my business. If they are married, it is an issue for the couple not me. It is not particualarly admirable behavior for anyone, politican, rock star, or cashier but it isn’t my business…unless they film it and come to my house to show it and I can’t get away from it.

  • Q1.  Seems you answered that one yourself.  I would not be one of those millions.

Q2.  I’d really rather not venture to guess.  Puking comes to mind, however.

Q3.  Creepy is Vincent Price in the Pit and the Pendulum.  This is simply horrific.

Q4.  15 minutes of fame, perhaps?  (If they were that lucky…..)

Q5.  No, those things have a way of finding themselves on the Internet.

    Q6.  Dream on, buster…

While I’m not a fan of double standards, they seem to be a fact of life in the USA.  I hope I live by a different set of standards.

    xoxoxo

  • p.s.  My mantra of standards:  “I’ve upped my standards.  Up yours.”
